The Blue Hole, located in Santa Rosa, NM, is an artesian well. A constant temperature of 61 degrees and a max depth of 81 feet make this an ideal place to do training. A constant flow of 3000 gpm allows for excellent visibility. The Blue Hole is 60 feet in diameter at the surface, and broadens to over 100 feet in diameter at depth. Two permanent platforms, descent lines, and an entry platform can be used for training dives. Koi, goldfish, carp and crayfish can be found, and a diver’s golf ball collection relieves the tedium of safety stops. An altitude of over 4600 ft makes this the equivalent of a 96 ft dive at sea level, so safety stops are required. Dive passes are required to enter, and may be purchased from the city, the on-site diveshop, and several area motels.
