Lake Wazee - WI
A former iron mine, opened to divers in 1993. This 146 acre lake is Wisconsin’s premier inland dive site, attacting more than 2000 divers annually. The lake filled naturally from ground water seepage and is exceptionally clear, with visibility often in excess of 60 ft. Surface temps warm up to the low 70’s midsummer, while water at depth typically stays below the mid 40’s year round. Bottom contour consists of a series of large walls, submerged forests, large flat areas with plenty of habitat and a variety of fish. Several large training platforms, fish cribs, and a diver’s playground are some of the man-made features found in Wazee. With depths in excess of 300 ft., Lake Wazee offers a wide variety of diving from Open Water checkout dives through very advanced technical diving and everything in between.
